Role: MS SQL Database administrator/Database Engineer

Location: Irving, TX (100% onsite)–(Only Local Profiles)

Duration: Long term

MANDATORY SKILLS:

PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL database, replication, tuning, backup and recovery

Your responsibilities in this role will include:

Primary Skill:

MS-SQL Database Administration
Daily activities include monitoring Database, checking error logs, checking the log file size and free space in the data drives, connectivity of the databases, Database Backup, restore.
Installation and configuration of MS SQL Server on remote systems.
Database Migration involves the below activity.
Installation of SQL server on target machine
Take the Backup from source and restore on target
Scripts out all the logins, endpoints, linked servers, Jobs and execute on target server.
Check if any orphan users are there and fix them.
Configure the backup jobs as per backup strategies.
Configure High Availability (Always On, Replication, Mirroring, Log Shipping).
Applying the latest patch to the SQL Server SQL (DDL, DML Query Writing)
High Availability of Database server (Configuration and Troubleshooting of Always On, Replication, Mirroring, Log Shipping).

Secondary Skill:

AWS Cloud Database Administration (Basic)
GCP Cloud Database Administration (Basic)
Oracle Database, Linux (Basic)

Job Description:

5 years of experience in administering PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL database, replication, tuning, backup and recovery
Experience with AWS Aurora Postgres is desired.
Experience handling multiterabyte databases and high transaction volumes
Experience handling large table partitioning and sub partitioning.
Experience with Large Scale database migrations (Onprem to Cloud, Onprem to Onprem)
Experience helping development team with PostGIS functions and performance tuning of GIS queries.
Must be highly proficient in performance tuning, replication, and proactive monitoring
Strong expertise in building, maintaining, supporting, troubleshooting, tuning, and monitoring production PostgreSQL database servers.

JOB DUTIES

Install, configure, and maintain Postgres databases with replication Install, configure, and maintain MYSQL databases with replication.
Optimize and tune PostgreSQL databases for optimal performance.
Continually improve monitoring, perform database capacity and usage planning
Write and maintain scripts to automate routine DB tasks Troubleshoot database related application performance issues.
Ensure security and data integrity of all PostgreSQL instances.
Perform routine, periodic, and proactive DB maintenance.
Provide off hours support to avoid impact to database availability during normal business hours Implement tools to automate database operation and monitoring.
Write python, shell scripting for Data Load, check fallout and report Test restore(master), recovery (point Intime), replication.
Test cluster failover and disaster recovery Implement, document and maintain database roles and security.
Research and evaluate alternatives and recommend solutions for business issues.
Create capacity planning reports based on historical data trends and projected data growth.

Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies.

DBE skills:

1. Well versed (hands on) with Oracle and PostgreSQL

2. Good knowledge and hands on experience in SQL.

3. Good knowledge and hands on experience in Functions, Procedures, Triggers, views and materialized views.

4. Good understanding of Json related functions in PostgreSQL.

5. Experience in Talend jobs for migrating data from Oracle to PostgreSQL.

6. Good to have knowledge in Unix/ Linux.
